I was voted a team captain of the Muhlenberg Baseball team as a senior. As a captain, I assumed a position of leadership on the team and served as a role model for the younger team members. I was responsible for communication between the coaching staff and the rest of the team. I also took it upon myself to help ensure the first year students had a positive transition into Muhlenberg College both on and off the field. My goal as a captain was to keep the team marching forward cohesively in an effort to create the best possible experience for all members on and off the field.
During the third game of the season, I fractured my femur attempting to make a catch in center field. This injury ended my season immediately. Although devastating, I attempted to impact the team positively from the bench. I would pull players aside to give advice, offer encouragement, or just to keep their spirits high on a bad day. I would pull from my previous experience as a player to help uplift my teammates and benefit the team as a whole.
